A 'Good Innings"
Antigua, also known as "Waladli" by the locals, is the larger of the two islands that make up Antigua and Barbuda. The capital of Antigua and Barbuda is St Johns and it is the only city on the island of Antigua. The island is known for its vibrant culture as well as the peace and tranquility that the locality offers.
Scuba Diving is a very popular pastime on the island, as is sailing. Antigua is also starting to develop a reputation for food tours that enable you to immerse yourself in the flavours of the Caribbean.
Cricket is the local obsession and Sir Viv Richards and Curtly Ambrose both hail from the island!
The waters around the Eastern side of Antigua have a number of reefs which are definitely worthwhile throwing on a snorkel, mask and fins for. There is snorkeling off other sides of the island too but you'll need a boat to get there.
Antigua is gaining a reputation for culinary excellence. There are tours on the island which explore the culinary highlights of this part of the world. Ingredients are fresh and the locals take great pride in their local dishes.
